Sherkin Island is situated off the South West coast of Ireland, and can be reached by means of a frequent ferry service from the small fishing village of Baltimore.
The nearest airport is situated at Cork City, but it is possible to reach West Cork from either Dublin Airport or Shannon Airport without any difficulty. Ferry services operate between the UK and Ringaskiddy terminal (just outside Cork city), and between the UK & France and Rosslare terminal (near Waterford).
The easiest way to reach Baltimore is by car, however it is possible to use the Public Bus service from Cork to Skibbereen (the nearest town), and then catch the local bus service from Skibbereen to Baltimore. If travelling by car, you should follow the N71 to Skibbereen, then follow the signs for Baltimore, which is situated some 10 miles further south.
