Eugene Daly Is a retired teacher and lives near Leap in West Cork. His book Heir Island: its History and People is the result of over five years of personal interviews with Heir Islanders at home and abroad and extensive archival research. He is the son of the late Micheál Ó Dálaigh of Cape Clear and Mary Pyburn of Heir Island. He spent the first five years of his life on Heir Island and started school there. Eugene has a special interest in local history and has contributed articles to the Mizen Journal, The Southern Star and Rosscarbery Past and Present.
